Finding a way to keep everyone in the family entertained, from elementary school age nature explorer to college-age foodie, isn’t always easy. Not so at The Inns of Aurora in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

Enjoy your own personal lakefront estate by staying at one of three sprawling private residential rentals. One option is the E.B. Morgan House, the former home of Col. Edwin Barber Morgan, co-founder of the The New York Times and American Express. Each of the seven bedrooms has its own private marble baths.

Cozy up by the fireplaces inside the restored 11-bedroom Zabriskie House. Take a family photo on the three-story staircase and celebrate together at the 22-person dining room. Sit on the shaded wraparound porch at the 10-bedroom Rowland House, built in 1903. Warm up at night beside the firepit and play games with your family on the expansive lawn overlooking the lake.

All three homes are just a short bike ride from Main Street in the postcard-perfect village of Aurora. But with so many family-friendly activities, you may never want to stray from the property.

Take on-site archery and painting lessons or opt for tea and spice-blending classes. Relax with a yoga class or sign up for an expert-guided fishing adventure. There’s also access to a fleet of bicycles, watercraft, snowshoes, lawn and board games, and art kits.

Dinner time is easy with pre-arrival provision stocking and to-go meal kits that you can prepare in your private kitchen. The inn’s dining venues and Village Market offer eat-in and take-out options for your family’s convenience. At night, roast marshmallows at your private firepit as a sure-fire way to make family memories.
