Covering more than 20 acres along Lake Michigan, Maggie Daley Park welcomes travelers to escape the bustle of the city and enjoy the outdoors at this destination for recreation featuring Chicago’s first outdoor climbing wall, a mini-golf course and a beautiful garden that offers a place of reflection in honor of those whose lives have been touched by cancer. (Opened in 2014, the park is named after the city’s former first lady, Maggie C. Daley, who died in 2011 from breast cancer.) The park’s whimsical, 3-acre Play Garden invites children 12 and younger to enter a world of magic, while those looking for a bit of competitive fun can opt for a round on the 18-hole, Chicago-inspired miniature golf course. Climbers of all sizes and levels can challenge themselves on the outdoor climbing wall.
