Otherworld

At first glance, visitors arrive at what appears to be an ordinary research facility. But after entering as “beta testers” in a fictional sleep study, they find themselves transported into Otherworld, a 32,000-square-foot immersive art experience where glowing caves, mysterious laboratories and secret passageways invite exploration. Rather than simply viewing artwork, visitors become part of the story, uncovering clues and solving puzzles as they move from room to room.

Created by entrepreneur Jordan Renda, whose background includes haunted houses and escape rooms, Otherworld grew from a desire to create an attraction where visitors interact with art instead of simply observing it, resulting in two Otherworld locations: one in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the other in Columbus, Ohio. The ambitious idea blends technology, storytelling and hands-on creativity, bringing together more than 40 artists, builders and designers to transform an empty space into a fully immersive world.

Since opening, Otherworld has evolved with new installations, changing storylines and the work of local artists alongside the in-house team of builders, artists and technicians. Existing spaces are refined and new elements are added regularly, with the Columbus attraction now spanning 47 rooms. The updates and hidden details encourage Otherworld visitors to return and discover something new. 

Whether you spend an hour wandering through the surreal environments or much longer freely exploring the rooms to piece together the attraction’s larger mysteries, no two visits feel the same.
